About This Chapter
The Louisville Kentucky Chapter of the Institute of Internal Auditors has approximately 270 members representing a wide range of businesses in Kentucky and Southern Indiana. The Chapter is a not-for-profit organization that was established to provide its members a means by which they may enhance their knowledge of Internal Auditing and share information.
Internal auditing is an independent, objective assurance and consulting activity designed to add value and improve an organization's operations. Internal Auditors interact with personnel from all areas of an organization. We help our organizations accomplish their objectives by bringing a systematic, disciplined approach to evaluate and improve the effectiveness of risk management, control, and governance processes.
The Louisville Chapter is an affiliate of The Institute of Internal Auditors, an international professional organization with over 154,500 members in more than 156 countries.
The Institute of Internal Auditors (IIA) publishes Standards for the Professional Practice of Internal Auditing. The IIA also offers a Certified Internal Auditor (CIA) designation that is recognized world wide. Internal Auditors awarded the CIA designation have demonstrated through experience and examination a high level of knowledge of Internal Auditing and are required to obtain continuing education and abide by a code of ethics.
The Louisville Chapter of The Institute of Internal Auditors desires to promote the Internal Auditing Profession, to offer professional development opportunities and to provide a source for networking and sharing of information to its members. Established in 1941, The Institute of Internal Auditors (IIA) is an international professional association with global headquarters in Lake Mary, Florida, USA. The IIA is the internal audit profession's global voice, recognized authority, acknowledged leader, chief advocate, and principal educator. Generally, members work in internal auditing, risk management, governance, internal control, information technology audit, education, and security.

Dear IIA Louisville Chapter Members,
As we move into May, I want to take a moment to thank each of you for your continued engage-ment and support throughout what has been a strong and successful chapter year. Your participa-tion, insights, and commitment to the profession are what make the IIA Louisville Chapter such a dynamic and impactful community.
As this chapter year comes to a close, we also recognize that the current term for our officers and select Board of Governors members will conclude at the end of May. I want to extend my sincere appreciation to those who have served in these roles and contributed their time and expertise to the success of our chapter. I am honored to continue serving as your Chapter President and look for-ward to working alongside both returning and newly elected leaders as they step into their roles for the upcoming term. Together, we will continue building on the strong foundation that has been established.
Our April session, “Navigating the IIA’s Third-Party Topical Requirement,” was a highly in-formative and timely discussion. As organizations continue to increase their reliance on third par-ties, the insights shared around governance, risk management, and control expectations were espe-cially valuable. The session provided practical considerations to help internal audit functions pre-pare for upcoming conformance requirements and sparked meaningful dialogue among attendees. Thank you to everyone who joined us and contributed to another engaging event.
Looking ahead, we are excited for our upcoming May social and speaker event at Churchill Downs, which will feature Hollie R. Spencer, MS, HROD, presenting “Emotional Intelligence & Communication for Internal Auditors.” This unique event will bring together professional devel-opment and networking in an iconic setting, offering members a valuable opportunity to connect while continuing to grow their skillsets.
The session will highlight how effective internal auditing requires more than technical expertise, it also demands strong emotional intelligence and the ability to communicate with clarity, empathy, and influence. Attendees will gain insight into the core components of emotional intelligence, identify their own communication styles, and learn how to adapt to others for more productive interactions. Practical techniques will also be shared to help manage conflict, navigate difficult conversations, and build stronger relationships with stakeholders.
We are looking forward to bringing our members together for this special event and hope to see many of you there.
As always, thank you for your continued support of the IIA Louisville Chapter. I look forward to connecting with you at our May event and to continuing our shared efforts to grow, connect, and elevate the internal audit profession.Warm regards,
K. Robert Stutsman
President
