The East Tennessee Chapter of the Institute of Internal Auditors (IIA) serves the East Tennessee area and is located in Knoxville, TN. The Chapter has over 200 members and is growing!
The 2026 IIA Advocacy Key recognizes U.S. chapters that have strengthened the internal audit profession through direct grassroots advocacy. This badge honors the chapter’s critical support of IIA Advocacy in advancing robust and coordinated engagement with key U.S. policymakers.
The East Tennessee Chapter is located in Knoxville, TN; the home of the Tennessee Volunteers and close to the Great Smoky Mountains. Meetings are typically held in Knoxville, TN between September and May. The Chapter is committed to providing its members with reasonably priced CPE offerings and the resources available to further their professional careers.

Scholarships and awards are granted to local college students as part of Student Night and Chapter members working towards their Certified Internal Auditor (CIA) designation.
The annual University of Tennessee Student Night partnering with the Beta Alpha Psi Chapter is held at the Haslam College of Business. The East Tennessee IIA Chapter raffles student scholarships and/or memberships during the event and presents on members' audit journey.

Welcome to a new year with The Institute of Internal Auditors East Tennessee Chapter!
As we begin another exciting chapter together, I want to thank each of you for your continued support of our profession and our local chapter. It is wonderful to connect with so many of you, share experiences, discuss emerging risks, and strengthen the relationships that make our chapter successful. We also partner with neighboring IIA chapters and the Association of Certified Fraud Examiners (ACFE) to provide valuable education and networking opportunities. Building on that success, we look forward to delivering even greater value through quality Continuing Professional Education (CPE), relevant content, and meaningful professional connections in the coming year.
We are fortunate to be part of the vibrant East Tennessee business community, centered in Knoxville, a city known for its innovation, hospitality, and rich history. Home to the University of Tennessee, Knoxville, Oak Ridge National Laboratory, and a growing healthcare, financial services, and technology sector, our region offers a dynamic environment for internal auditors and risk professionals. Knoxville's blend of tradition and progress makes it an ideal place for professionals committed to governance, risk management, compliance, and organizational excellence.
As our profession continues to evolve, so does our chapter. We are planning an engaging mix of in-person and virtual events featuring knowledgeable speakers on topics ranging from emerging technologies to fraud prevention, and audit best practices. Whether you are a seasoned practitioner, a new auditor, or a student considering a career in the profession, we hope to provide programs that support your growth and foster meaningful connections across industries.
