The Oklahoma City Chapter of the Institute of Internal Auditors (IIA) serves Oklahoma City and the surrounding area. The Chapter has over 350 members.
It’s hard to imagine, but it has been 70 years since the Oklahoma City Chapter of the Institute of Internal Auditors, Inc. was established. On September 1, 1949 an initial group of 18 internal audit professionals founded the local chapter, passed the by-laws and elected the original officers and one governor. They also determined that chapter meetings would be held on the first Thursday evening of each month.
The original 1949 members were:
During the last 70 years, we’ve grown to an all-time high of 355 members, representing 102 organizations. We provide a wide range of opportunities for professional development and communication, such as Chapter sponsored lunch meetings and seminars, monthly newsletters, and a directory of Chapter members and events. We are committed to adding value to our members, member organizations, Chief Audit Executives (CAEs) and profession. As such, we are currently attempting to expand the scope of our outreach and communication efforts (e.g., website development, CAE Roundtables, etc.). Please bear with us during these ongoing efforts.
Our principal mission is to:
The Chapter supports this mission by:
Offering 9 monthly one-hour CPE luncheon each month (September through May).
Offering 2 seminars (Fall and Spring ) worth 16 to 24 CPE hours each.
IIA Oklahoma City Chapter Members,
As we gear up for the 2025/2026 chapter year, I want to express my gratitude to everyone who engaged in our events and CPE opportunities during the 2024/2025 chapter year. A special thank you goes to our outgoing officers for their dedication in delivering valuable learning experiences and engaging activities for our members. I’d like to extend a heartfelt thank you to Cory Brown, who has completed his term as President. Cory’s leadership has set a strong foundation, and he has been instrumental in preparing me to step into this role. I’m thrilled to lead our chapter forward with a dynamic team of officers, building on last year’s successes and driving new opportunities for our current members and new members to come.
Please join me in welcoming our 2025/2026 volunteer officers
The IIA OKC Chapter remains committed to offering professional education and support in an inclusive and collaborative environment. For the upcoming year, we plan to provide a blend of in-person and virtual events to ensure our members have diverse opportunities for growth and development. We will continue to collaborate with similar organizations to expand our networking opportunities.
My vision for this year is to foster stronger connections, enhance professional development, and create meaningful networking opportunities for our members as we strive for excellence in our field. I encourage you to reach out to me or any of our officers with ideas or feedback to help shape our chapter’s future. I’m excited about what we can achieve together in the year ahead!
Thank you,
Jon Desouza
President, IIA OKC Chapter
