The Northeast Ohio IIA Chapter was established in 1961 and exists as a service to our local and visiting IIA members.
Established in 1941, The Institute of Internal Auditors (IIA) is an international professional association with global headquarters in Lake Mary, Florida, USA. The IIA is the internal audit profession's global voice, recognized authority, acknowledged leader, chief advocate, and principal educator. Generally, members work in internal auditing, risk management, governance, internal control, information technology audit, education, and security.
Proud to call Northeast Ohio home.
We are pleased to be a 2023 Building Awareness Champion!
During Internal Audit Awareness Month in May, we shared our passion for internal auditing, promoting the profession through a variety of events and campaigns designed to inform and engage, raise awareness, and help stakeholders understand the value of internal audit in their organizations.
Dear Members & Friends,
The holidays have come and gone, and our chapter year continues to roll along with some exciting programming coming your way!
Thank you to everyone who joined us in-person and virtually for our annual Fraud Day event! A big thank you to all of our presenters! The event included presentations from Craig Stanland (Author of "Blank Canvas, How I Reinvented My Life After Prison”), Michael Gerfin (Federal Bureau of Investigation), Glenn Richmond (Protiviti), Richard Bowen (Citigroup Whistleblower), and Meric Bloch (Winter Investigations)!
Looking ahead, we are happy to announce that we will be hosting, in conjunction with the Northeast Ohio Financial Executives International, another joint event at Rocket Mortgage Fieldhouse. Please join us for 4 hours of engaging learning featuring the topics of successful ERP implementations and understanding and navigating trade and tariffs in the Trump administration presented by Grant Thornton and Plante Moran respectively. The training will be immediately followed by an industry networking dinner and attendees will enjoy great seats to watch the 1st place Cleveland Cavaliers take on the Brooklyn Nets on March 11th.
In April, we will once again be offering an Ethics training presented by the Ohio Society of CPAs, which will satisfy the professional standards and responsibilities requirement for CPAs, to our members. This event will include 3 CPE’s for Ethics and 1 additional CPE topic presented by the Institute of Internal Auditors national office for a total of 4 CPE hours. We are happy to announce this training will be a co-sponsored event with the Northwest Ohio IIA Chapter as we join forces to bring virtual programming to both regions during this very busy month.
Looking forward to May, we will be partnering with KPMG and local Chief Audit Executives (CAEs) to bring you our 7th Annual CAE Roundtable on May 16. This year the event will be held in conjunction with the Meonske Professional Development Conference on the campus of Kent State University in Kent, OH. Northeast Ohio IIA and other local professional organizations have been invited to participate in the conference and make it one of the largest CPE events in Northeast Ohio in 2025!
Thank you for your continued support of the Northeast Ohio Chapter. Please refer to pg. 8 for additional training opportunities offered by other local organizations. We can’t wait to see you again soon!
Best regards,
Nick Jorz and Jonathan Sanfilippo, Co-Presidents
