David Helberg, CIA, CRMA
Director of the Global Board, 2025–26
David Helberg is a 2025-26 Director of the Global Board of Directors of The IIA and the 2025-26 Senior Vice Chair of The IIA’s North American Board. Following his involvement in various roles at the chapter and national level, he has served as a member of the North American Board since 2022 as the Ex-Officio member on the Canadian Advisory Committee.
David is the Chief, Internal Audit Services & Corporate Ethics, Privacy Officer at Cameco Corporation (NYSE:CCJ and TSX:CCO), one of the largest global providers of uranium fuel powering a secure energy future.
David has been with Cameco for over 15 years, and in his role is accountable for the internal audit, corporate ethics and corporate privacy functions. He leads the internal audit function, strengthening the organization’s ability to create, protect, and sustain value by providing the audit and finance committee and management with independent, risk-based and objective assurance, advice, insight, and foresight. Within the company’s corporate ethics and compliance program, David oversees activities that foster a culture of integrity, transparency, and accountability within the organization. The corporate privacy and compliance function is also within David’s portfolio, with responsibility to safeguard personal information and ensure adherence to privacy laws and regulations. His expertise in these areas helps Cameco navigate complex legal and regulatory landscapes and maintain its commitment to ethical business practices.
He has served as a member of the Audit Committee of Joint Venture Inkai LLP for the past 7 years. Inkai is a significant uranium mine located in Kazakhstan that is owned by Cameco and by the Kazakhstan government through Kazatomprom.
At The IIA, David serves as a Certified Quality Assessor for The IIA Quality Assurance Services and as a Qualified Facilitator for The IIA Facilitator Program.
David is a Certified Internal Auditor (CIA) and holds a Certification in Risk Management Assurance (CRMA).
